Introducing Earthbound Farm Greenhouse

Locally grown greenhouse greens

At Earthbound Farm, we are passionate about farming the finest veggies while respecting the ground that feeds us.
Utilizing innovative greenhouse farming, our Earthbound Farm Greenhouse blends add unique flavor and crunch to the Earthbound product family while farming closer to you than ever before.

While our field-grown organics help us sequester carbon, restore soil health, and protect pollinators, our Earthbound Farm Greenhouse salad blends allow us to reduce water use and food miles. Collectively, these two farming methods give us more tools to solve the environmental challenges that we face, while providing a wider variety of the freshest and best tasting veggies for you.

As always, our greens are non-gmo, grown without harmful pesticides, and packed with care. Meet our new greenhouse grown salad blends:

Why Greenhouse Grown?

Since our early days leading the organic food movement, greenhouses have been an invaluable tool for us to develop seed varieties and germinate delicate varieties before transplant.

And while some of our hearty greens and veggies thrive with the stress of the outdoors in our rich organic soil, some tender leaf varieties are happier under the cozy protection of our greenhouse. Together, Earthbound Farm offers the finest, freshest, and most sustainable greens from both farming methods.

Frequently Asked Questions

Earthbound Farm has always been organic. Are Earthbound Farm Greenhouse items organic?
While not certified organic yet, Earthbound Farm Greenhouse salad blends are non-gmo and use zero pesticides. At Earthbound Farm, we are proud of our pioneering leadership as part of the organic food movement that began in the 1980s. Today, greenhouse grown is a new frontier that helps us grow the finest and freshest greens closer to you than ever before.
Is Earthbound Farm Greenhouse Sustainable?
Yes! While our field grown organics help us improve soil health, protect pollinator habitat, and sequester carbon, our greenhouse grown blends allow us to reduce water use and food miles while bringing our produce closer to you than ever before. While there is no environmental silver bullet to solve the climate crisis we face, organic and greenhouse farming provides tools to treat both the root cause and symptoms of climate change.
Do I Need to Wash Greenhouse Grown Greens?
While our Earthbound Farm Greenhouse products are grown in a protected greenhouse environment, we recommend rinsing these greens before making your delicious salad.
Where are Earthbound Farm Greenhouse Greens available?
Our first greenhouse is located in South Bend, Indiana and salad blends will be available throughout the upper Midwest. We will add additional greenhouses to bring local produce to more cities than ever before.

🌾 How do they do it? They infuse soil with nutr 🌾 How do they do it? They infuse soil with nutrients and organic matter, prevent erosion, increase biodiversity, and protect the field from weeds… just by growing!

In this field, we’re nourishing the soil with:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌱 Vetch: A fast-growing legume that infuses lots of nitrogen into the soil and helps control weeds.
🌱 Peas: Pollinators love these nitrogen-fixing legumes!
🌱 Bell Beans: also known as Fava Beans, these provide a great deal of organic matter for the soil and make great cold-weather cover crops.
🌱 Oat: This grass has been used as a cover crop for centuries; its thick roots prevent soil erosion — and it provides free hay in the spring!
