Are you eating more plant-based these days? The “plant-based” food trend is on fire, right? Plant-based is kinda like the not-so-popular kid in high school who actually was cute, smart, and funny but wasn’t quite in the right environment to shine. But hold the phone…they go off to college and BAM! Star of the show.

A plant-based diet means exactly what it says — eating habits that prioritize food made from plants. In essence, it’s the softer side of vegan because many people who strive for a plant-based diet don’t rigorously avoid all animal-based foods. Plant-based is less orthodox and more flexible. Whatever the case, we’re for it. We love eating plants (organic ones, that is). And there’s plenty of evidence that plant-based diets (especially whole food plant-based diets) offer a variety of health and environmental benefits. We won’t go into detail here, but a quick web search will provide hours of interesting reading.

However, we’ve noticed that so many popular “plant-based” products are highly processed subs for animal products. Sometimes it seems like the plants are gettin’ left outta the plant-based convo! Why? Because veggies have had a bad rap. Can you believe some people don’t think veggies taste great? We’re here to help blow up that misconception. Our farmers have spent years dedicating themselves to growing delicious, full-flavored organic vegetables and greens. And we spend our lives scouring the universe for the simplest and most delicious recipes for those lovingly grown crops. You can search our collection here. They’re not all made exclusively from plants, but the focus is always on organic produce goodness.

Veggies Don’t Bite, a recipe blog written by our dear friend Sophia DeSantis. She and her family (husband and three young boys) went plant-based to address some health issues and she has unleashed her talent for creating simple and delicious recipes on the plant-based world.

“Veggies Don’t Bite was created because I want to help families get healthier one small step at a time. My talent is using whole food ingredients to create plant-based recipes that will change the way your entire family views healthy food. Comfort food classics, veggie filled meals, and occasional sweet indulgences create a place where all types of eaters unite.”

Straight from the Earth, a plant-based cookbook written by our co-founder, Myra Goodman.

“Our goal in writing this cookbook is not to turn omnivores into vegans. Rather, it’s to offer a diverse and delicious collection of recipes that makes choosing more plant-based meals too tempting to resist.”
