It’s no secret why the number of farmers’ markets has grown exponentially in recent years. We long for a deeper and more direct, emotional connection to our food, to know how, where and by whom it’s grown. Even if you’re fortunate to live where farmers’ markets run all year long (hello, Californians), summer market season is extra special with all the sweet and luscious summer fruits, flavorful tomatoes, unique veggies, and fresh peak season corn taking center stage.

Wandering through your local summer market is an intense sensorial delight. Just imagine what magic you’ll make with those peaches or boysenberries (or what it’d be like to bite right into them)! Not sure about you, but we nearly always walk away from the farmers’ market thinking we’ll never eat our entire haul all before it spoils…but somehow it’s never an issue.

A Green Canvas

If you’re like most of us, you probably don’t get all of your weekly produce at the farmers’ market. At Earthbound, our diverse growing regions, consistent quality controls, and strict adherence to USDA organic standards mean our greens are always in season. We have more than ten varieties of baby greens, all of which provide the perfect canvas for your fun, flavorful, and unique farmers’ market finds. Whether it’s versatile organic baby spinach, multi-hued spring mix, peppery arugula, crunchy romaine hearts, delightful Rosé Blend, or any of our other signature mixes, there’s plenty to showcase your perfect peaches, luscious berries, and delectable heirloom tomatoes.

From Too Small for the Farmers’ Market to Today

In the way-back (1984), Earthbound Farm wasn’t even big enough to stand up a booth at the local farmers’ market. With just 2½ acres of organic heirloom raspberries in California’s Carmel Valley, our two founders sold their little baskets of berries from a table where the end of their driveway hit the country road they lived on.

We’ve certainly grown since those early days—you can now find Earthbound Farm organic salads and our other organic produce, fresh and frozen, across North America. And while our scale has changed, we continue to grow our produce with the same care and commitment to quality as if it were still grown in our own back yards. Today, Earthbound employs way more than two people, but we’re still just a network of passionate farmers and others who bring you amazing organic produce, right in your local grocery store.

Bon appétit!
