You may have heard us mention our Farm Stand before. Unless you are fortunate enough to live in the verdant Carmel Valley in California, or have happened upon it as a tourist in the area, you have not likely experienced this little slice of organic heaven. And while in essence, it’s “just” a country store, organic café and gardens, we like to think of it as so much more:  a living and breathing monument to our history, our brand and our deep commitment to organic food.

We think we can and should do a better job sharing even more of this special place with you. In fact, as a first step, we recently conducted a Facebook Live event, exploring the surrounding organic gardens and the Farm Stand and hope you’ll take some time to check it out. With the Farm Stand’s many educational events and activities, you’ll see there is so much organic lifestyle goodness to share, even from afar.

With that in mind, and to set the stage for future Farm Stand musings, let’s take a step back and get to know the Earthbound Farm Farm Stand.

About the Farm Stand

In Central California’s Carmel Valley, just down the road from Earthbound Farm’s original 2 ½-acre farm, is our Farm Stand. Cherished by locals and visitors alike, it is an important manifestation of our mission to bring the benefits of organic food to as many people as possible and serve as a catalyst for positive change. More than 100,000 people visit our Farm Stand every year. It is open and free to the public.

Here you can devour a delicious meal from our all-organic kitchen, or pick up organic produce, flowers, gourmet groceries, or a gift in our retail store. Tour our organic gardens on your own, or enjoy one of our guided flower walks. We also have seasonal events including live music and bug walks for the little ones. Check our Farm Stand Facebook page for the latest updates and event details.

History

The Farm Stand was established in 1992 as an outdoor seasonal farm stand to sell fresh and delicious Earthbound Farm organic produce, when our founders Drew and Myra Goodman outgrew their original home-grown operation. A few years later, old Mission Ranch hotel buildings slated for demolition were moved onto the Farm Stand property and repurposed as a permanent structure for the market, and grocery offerings increased.  In 2003, we expanded the Farm Stand and opened an organic café (at the time, it was just the third certified organic kitchen in the country), and we stayed open year-round for the first time.

The Organic Café

All our food is certified organic and reflect the palette of the fields outside — from our salad bar to freshly toasted panini, handmade pizzas, soups, sandwiches, meals, bakery treats, smoothies, juices, and more.

The Market

Our market offers most of Earthbound Farm’s wide selection of organic salads, fruits, and vegetables. All produce sold is certified organic.

Bunches of spectacular organic flowers are a signature feature, starting with tulips and irises in the spring and featuring dahlias, zinnias, snapdragons, foxgloves, and more.

The store features Earthbound Farm’s famous organic baked goods, including cookies (Ginger Snaps, Lemon Snaps, Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal, and Peanut Butter) and granola (Maple Almond and Cranberry Pecan), plus fresh bakery treats handmade in our organic café.

The market also offers organic groceries, as well as all-natural gourmet specialty items and a lovely selection of unique Earth-friendly gifts.

Events

Check the schedule on our Facebook page for myriad interactive, fun and educational events hosted at the Farm Stand – including occasional Facebook Live events — for those who aren’t local. Information about organic food and farming is always available and woven into every activity on the farm. The Farm Stand is also available for private events.

As you can see, the Farm Stand holds a special place in our heart and is something we are proud to share with you. Join us in person or online any time…we’d love to see you there!
