Mango Chile Sauce

Sweet mango and spicy jalapeños combine in a versatile condiment that’s delicious with seafood, pork or poultry. You control the heat by adjusting the amount of jalapeños you use and eliminating the seeds for a milder sauce.

Easy and quick to make, this flavorful sauce may become a staple in your pantry! The recipe makes about 1-1/2 cups of sauce.

Ingredients

1 lb

ripe Earthbound Farm Organic Mangos (peeled, pitted and finely chopped, about 1-1/2 cups)

1 ½ cups

(packed) light brown sugar

⅓ cup

White wine vinegar

jalapeño peppers (thinly sliced with seeds optional, or to taste)

¼ cup

finely diced Earthbound Farm Organic Red Onion

1 Tbsp

minced garlic

½ tsp

salt

Directions

Place the mangos, sugar, vinegar, jalapeños, onion, garlic and salt in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer the mixture for 15 minutes. Cool and then refrigerate for up to 1 week.

The sauce can also be transferred into sterilized jars, sealed and processed for canning, if you prefer.
